TOURISM MATTERS
THE STORY
Tourism Matters is a film series we developed and produced for Visit Las Vegas, telling the story of the Las Vegas tourist economy through the individuals impacted by it. We employed techniques of verité-style film-making and intimate interviewing to tell these personal stories of hardship and success.
We featured Maria, a former showgirl turned entrepreneur adapting vintage Vegas culture in the face of rapid urban change. We profiled Oliver and his ragtag crew building a food truck empire to support his mother. We followed Peter, a flower shop owner, exploring the ecosystem of local artisans and small businesses it takes to create a single floral arrangement. And we produced an intimate portrait of Bill, a 100 year-old man who still works at the convention center because he loves the people, which went viral with over 10M views.
